Who can access services from the Department?

The Department of Sport is responsible for the delivery of quality sport experiences to all and therefore every citizen/resident/visitor can approach the department on issues of concern or interest.


  • Accredited National Sports Associations - All accredited NSA’s and their registered club can access support services or request funds from the department. Request from clubs and athletes must be made via their respective NSA.
  • General Public – The General Public can make requests and access support services and programs based on availability. Persons could also approach to assist in sponsoring events or request technical support in planning and executing events.
What services are available to accredited National Sports Associations
and clubs and how are they accessed?

The Department of Sport is responsible for the delivery of quality sport experiences to all and therefore every citizen/resident/visitor can approach the department on issues of concern or interest.


  • Custom Duty Exemption
    The NSA MUST submit a written request to the department with supporting invoices and shipping documents for the items being imported. Request being made by clubs or athletes must be endorsed by the relevant association. All request are then forwarded to the Customs Department for ratification.
  • Embarkation Tax / Security Tax Exemption
    Associations must submit a written request outlining travel details and persons travelling at least one week prior to the travel date to facilitate further processing in a timely manner. Justification of travel such as a letter of invite to tournaments or meetings or proof that the event is sanctioned by their regional or international body should accompany the request. Request for embarkation tax exemption are forwarded to the Ministry of Finance and security tax exemption to Anguilla Air and Seaport Authority for ratification.
  • Funding for Travel
    A written request must be submitted along with justification for travel such as a letter of invite to tournaments or meetings or proof that event is sanctioned by their regional or international body. A breakdown of expected expenditure should also be provided with supporting documents. Requests MUST be made one month prior to travel to facilitate the timely approval of funds. Associations MUST complete and return a Contribution Report Form with supporting receipts to the department within two weeks after the event has been completed.
  • Technical support
    The staff at the department stands ready to provide technical support and advise to NSA’s in the development of annual plans, training programs, fundraising events and the like. A written request from the NSA would trigger a process that would involve developing a clear understanding of the issue(s) and the development and implementation of strategies to address such.
  • Preparation of Facilities
    The department also supports requests for use of facilities. See "What’s the process for booking a facility?".
Can the Department help to waive tax fees on equipment and resources?

The DoS helps associations to clear equipment with Customs that help sport's advancement.


Once the department gets the documents, it takes about 2-3 days to finalize everything.

What are the requirements for creating an Association?

An association is set up to be the sole governing body locally for a recognized sporting discipline. To be registered with the department the group must be able to submit the following:


  • 1. A Constitution (to be ratified by the department)
  • 2. Minutes of the meeting that agreed to establish the organization, the names and responsibilities of the executive body that will be governing the overall affairs of the sport.
  • 3. Bank Account details (in the name of the Organization)
  • What's the process for booking a facility?

    The Facility Booking Form MUST be completed for usage of all facilities manage by the department, whether for events, training or tournament periods.


    In some instances, a usage fee may apply and must be paid to secure the venue before the event.
